Some of the best moments happen in the kitchen, and this Valentine’s Day, FEAST Bham is giving couples the perfect excuse to create something special without leaving the house.
Now through Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, FEAST Bham is taking orders for its four-course Valentine’s Day Meal Kit for Two, which includes wedge salads with house-made dressing, crab cakes packed with lump crab meat, center-cut steaks, asparagus, potatoes and a lemon ricotta cheesecake for dessert. They provide cooking instructions and seasonings to make it a night and a restaurant-quality meal to remember.
“The favorite thing for me and my husband to do as a couple is cook dinner together,” said Lindsey Noto King, co-owner of FEAST Bham. “So we thought, why not give others a chance to do the same—spend time in the kitchen, create something delicious and enjoy the process.”
The best part? The entire meal comes portioned and prepped, so it takes just 30 minutes to cook. It costs $125.
“We wanted to check a couple of boxes: Give people a way to spend quality time together, bring a chef’s experience into their home, and take the guesswork out of making an incredible meal,’’ Lindsey said, adding that she worked on the menu with her full-time chef, Wayman Clayton.
The kit comes with an herb-compound butter, seasoned with garlic, rosemary and basil, that can be used to season the vegetables and proteins.
“Once you sear your steaks and roast your potatoes, you can add a couple of pats of the compound butter on the pan with the potatoes, asparagus and steak,’’ Lindsey said, adding that everything can be seasoned with salt and pepper and then people can “let the compound butter do the talking.’’
So, just how easy is it to make the meal? Lindsey explains.
Italian-inspired wedge salad
Lindsey said it tastes like a “wedge salad on steroids.’’ It’s a baby iceberg wedge that comes with gorgonzola, a balsamic glaze, slow-roasted tomatoes, fresh banana peppers, shaved red onion, fresh basil and a breadcrumb topping with a spicy salami flavor. “It’s a balanced salad that’s almost a meal in itself,’’ Lindsey said. The house dressing tastes like a spicy Ranch with fresh dill and Everything Bagel seasoning.
Crab cakes
The crab cakes can be seared in a skillet or placed on a sheet pan and cooked in the oven. They come with a lemon dill aioli.
Baby potatoes
They are like miniature Yukon baked potatoes, which can be placed on a sheet pan and cooked in the oven to give them a crispy exterior and creamy interior.
Asparagus
Put on a sheet pan and cook in the oven.
Five-ounce center cut filets
Sear in a skillet and finish cooking in the oven.
Lemon and ricotta cheesecake
Lindsey said the cheesecake tastes like “heaven.’’ The crust is crumbly and delicious, and the cheesecake is light. It comes with a raspberry coulis.
“It’s really not a whole lot of work, and that was my hope,’’ Lindsey said of there meal kit. “If someone does not feel comfortable or confident in the kitchen, the only thing they will have to do is sear the steaks.’’
She added that consumer feedback has been good.
“For a lot of moms or married couples who have kids, the idea of finding a babysitter or getting reservation is difficult,’’ Lindsay said. “But with something like this, they can put the kids to bed by 7 and now they have the rest of the evening to cook this wonderful meal.’’
